Officers conducting a traffic safety and inspection check on Ludingtonville Road at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Jan. 27 said that they observed a pick-up truck being driven by Apex, N.C. resident Peter Nanos, 22, which had several equipment violations.

While interviewing Nanos, officers said that they detected a smell of marijuana coming from the truck, prompting further investigation, which determined that Nanos was in possession of an electronic cigarette that contained THC oil, 1.9 ounces of concentrated cannabis wax 1.15 pounds of marijuana.

Nanos was arrested and charged with a count of criminal possession of marijuana and second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies. Following arraignment, Nanos was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. He is due back in court later this year to answer the charges.
